The Todburn Story
Todburn West is a small, traditional working farm in Northumberland.
We moved here in November 2015, as it had always been my husband, Stephen’s, dream to have a farm. He embraced farm life immediately and the first livestock arrived within weeks of our arrival. Meanwhile, I threw myself into the house renovations but felt somewhat daunted by the farm itself, having not come from an agricultural background.
However, determined to have a project to call my own, I decided to get some goats, as I had always loved them since childhood.
The first goats in the Todburn herd arrived in 2017 – four British Guernsey and Guernsey-type goats, chosen for their docile nature and creamy milk.
Three years later, the farm is in Environmental Stewardship, and has a diverse range of wildlife, fauna and flora, and the Todburn Herd consists of 11 gorgeous dairy goats.
After a year or so of keeping these gentle animals, I knew that I wanted to create a natural skincare product harnessing the goodness of goat’s milk.
With a degree in nutrition (good for understanding qualities of oils); a diploma in Aromatherapy; experience in New Product Development and years of interest in natural skincare products, somehow it felt like a natural decision to venture into soap making.
And so it began…..
